The Englishtown Project

On September 3rd, 1977, the Grateful Dead headlined one of the largest and most musically successful concerts of all time at Raceway Park in Englishtown N.J. In addition to the Dead, who had just completed its legendary Spring / Summer 1977 tour featuring a batch of new material from "Terrapin Station," the show also included the Dead family’s New Riders of the Purple Sage and the good-time, southern rock Marshall Tucker Band.
As Michael Falzarano tells the tale! "Everywhere I toured with The New Riders of the Purple Sage for the past 17 years someone would come up to me at almost every show and say 'I saw you guys at Englishtown.' Long story short, it seemed like a good idea to put a band together and pay tribute to that legendary September 3, 1977 show.'" The original concept/idea was to do the one show, have some fun playing a bunch of great songs by three iconic bands and that would be that. Before we knew it, over 80 shows were booked now here we are in 2022 - The Englishtown Project was born. This tribute extravaganza will feature healthy “doses” of selections from each band’s sets that day with a relaxed, festival style program.
The Englishtown Project features: Michael Falzarano on guitar & vocals (Hot Tuna, New Riders, Airplane), Clare Maloney on vocals (Airplane Family, The Great Adventure), Rob Wolfson on guitar & vocals (Dead Center AllStars), Tom Circosta on guitar & vocals (Zen Tricksters, Jam Stampede), Klyph Black on bass & vocals (Zen Tricksters, Jam Stampede) and Dave Diamond on drums & vocals (Zen Tricksters, Jam Stampede).
Also, on keyboards, to be determined, will be either Mark Mercier (Max Creek), Scott Chasolen (The Machine) or Jordan Giangreco (The Breakfast).
