Story Songs: Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, and Harry Chapin

Story Songs: Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, and Harry Chapin
10-11-2026

Get ready for an unforgettable evening of music as Tom DiMenna and his talented duo bring the iconic story songs of the 1970s to life. Featuring the timeless works of Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, and Harry Chapin, this heartfelt tribute showcases DiMenna’s remarkable ability to channel the vocal and musical style of these legendary artists. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or new to their music, this performance promises to stir your soul, get your toes tapping, and have you humming along to the songs that defined a generation.

With lush guitar playing, humorous banter, a coastal folk feel, and a balanced setlist to suit the season, Tom DiMenna and his collaborators bring these songs to life across New England and beyond. The Fall show features a nostalgic, soul-stirring setlist with generational touchstones and upbeat gems that capture the crisp air and contemplative spirit of autumn (“Cat’s in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin, “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens, ”Sundown” by Gordon Lightfoot…).

Maine-based singer/songwriter Tom DiMenna has been captivating audiences with his rich voice, masterful guitar playing, and knack for storytelling. His debut album, “You Know Me, My Devil Says,” released in 2020, was followed by a sold-out tour of Cat Stevens’ classics in 2021. Expanding his repertoire, DiMenna now includes the works of Gordon Lightfoot and Harry Chapin in a broader celebration of 1970s story songs. Tom recreates the magic of these unforgettable tracks, making them resonate as deeply today as they did decades ago.

Join him for this one-of-a-kind tribute that will transport you back to the heart and soul of the ’70s. The legend lives on!
