Roger Fluet CD Release & Bi-Plane Piñata Party
5-5-2013 (Sawtelle Room)
Roger Fluet debuts his eagerly anticipated first CD “Why Did The Plane Crash?” which takes flight at the Bull Run on May 5th. That’s right; ‘Cinco De Mayo’ is not over until this party is over!
Roger is a son of Fitchburg and his 1st CD is a culmination of desire and determination to make his musical dream a reality. When folks are asked to describe Roger’s style, there are few smooth landings with the same artist comparisons. Combining a rhythmic acoustic beat with singer-songwriter sentiments, Roger has been described as a cross between JJ Cale and George Harrison or even a countrified Eric Clapton. You begin to ‘hear’ the picture when you combine the styles of some of his CD collaborators.
Somehow James Montgomery’s blues harmonica and Tim Ray's ‘Lyle Lovett’ style piano fit perfectly together with acoustic and electric guitars, occasional fiddle and horns. Weaving across different genres mixing country infused folk/rock and swing inspired blues, yet it all comes from the same soulful place…. “Why Did The Plane Crash?” … well Roger Fluet...
For the CD launch party Roger will be joined by local surf music legends the SpyTones and a number of other special guest performers.
Come catch the flight and celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The party is over when someone wins the right to take down the Bi-plane Piñata… !!!
Openers: Elizabeth Lorrey, GS Picard and Lee Villaire - these Bull Run favorites share the stage together to support Roger’s debut. These ladies color the musical spectrum from edgy, intense acoustic rock, to emotional folk-rock to sensual blues-rock, promising to make this an even more memorable night.
