Darrell Scott

Darrell Scott
10-14-2022

Darrell Scott is a 4-time Grammy-nominated Nashville songwriter, performer and recording artist, an in-demand multi-instrumentalist, playing 13 instruments, a producer and an ASCAP Songwriter of the Year. He was honored with the 2007 Song of the Year award from the Americana Music Association for his song "Hank Williams’s Ghost."

As a songwriter, he's contributed a string of hits that reads like a list of the best modern country music has to offer. There's the Grammy Award winning "Long Time Gone" and "Heartbreak Town," for the Dixie Chicks. "Great Day to be Alive" helped Travis Tritt complete his comeback; "Born to Fly" hit #1 for Sara Evans; "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" was cut in the same year by both Patty Loveless and Brad Paisley. Additionally, he has collaborated with Steve Earle, Sam Bush, Del McCoury, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, John Cowan, Trace Adkins, Joan Baez, Guy Clark, Tim McGraw, Tim O'Brien, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Keb’ Mo, Jonathan Edwards, Faith Hill and many, many others.

Darrell toured in Robert Plant’s Band of Joy for a year and a half, co-wrote R&B star Anthony Hamilton’s opening track “Save Me,” and has produced, co-written and performed on three songs from Zac Brown’s “Heavy Is the Head.”

Witness Darrell Scott’s ability to make just about any instrument talk, listen to his vocals and songwriting to hear him contain every emotion between joy and pain within one verse in his singing and in his pen. These days he’s taking the outsider role seriously. After 23 years in Nashville, he spent the last year devoting himself to a self-sufficient lifestyle in the country while simultaneously putting together his best album in years.
