Scott Sharrard & The Brickyard Band

Scott Sharrard & The Brickyard Band
9-22-2018

Scott Sharrard, was lead guitarist and music director of the Gregg Allman Band since the Fall of 2008. He’s been called, “One of the best guitarists in the country,” by Billboard and, “the next Eric Clapton or Mike Bloomfield,” by the Indianapolis Star Tribune. Gregg Allman also has high praise for the guitarist: “I know all about guitar players - I’ve seen the very best - and Scott Sharrard is the perfect guitarist for my band. He understands that you don’t need to play just for the sake of playing; Scott isn’t one of those guys who thinks they’re getting paid by the note. He never steps on the vocals, and leaves plenty of room for everyone else to do their thing, but when it’s time to solo, Scott delivers, boy.”

While acting as Musical Director for Allman and recording Gregg's new album in Muscle Shoals, Sharrard simultaneously developed his own band, Scott Sharrard & The Brickyard Band. They released their self titled debut in 2012 and embarked on a national tour soon after. Their new album, "Saving Grace," was released in 2017 to much critical acclaim.

Scott is honored to have received a Grammy Nomination for Best American Roots Song for "My Only True Friend" which he co-wrote with Gregg Allman for Allman’s highly acclaimed posthumous studio album, "Southern Blood." The album also received a nomination for Best Americana Album with Scott as musical director and guitarist.

Scott has also performed with The Allman Brothers, Levon Helm, Amy Helm, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, Jennifer Johns, Marshall Crenshaw, Kelley Hunt, Katy Pfaffl, Brian Charette and Jay Collins & The Kings County Band.

His guitar playing, much like his voice, is fluid and soulful, encompassing Cropper, Hendrix and BB King. In fact, fans of King’s "Indianola Mississippi Seeds" era will find a lot to love about the Scott Sharrard Band. - Brandon Findlay, Jambands.com
