#1 Billboard Blues Artist, Anthony Gomes, has been creating virtuosic, white-hot blues since his recorded debut in 1998. Anthony is a triple-threat, force-of-nature guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. Blues Revue Magazine recently declared that, "Gomes' formidable guitar chops and authentic singing place him in the forefront of modern blues." His high-energy shows and dynamic stage presence make him one of the top draws on the Rock/Blues circuit today, headlining concerts in 17 countries. In November 2017 Gomes won 'Best Musician (Live Performance)' at the 37th Annual European Blues Awards. Anthony has opened for B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Alice Cooper, Joe Bonamassa, Heart, Jonny Lang, Sammy Hagar, 38 Special, Robert Cray, Gretchen Wilson and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. He has released eleven full length albums, five of the most recent have appeared in the TOP 10 on the BILLBOARD BLUES CHART, including "LIVE" (2008) which debuted at #1. His latest album, “Electric Field Holler” has earned highly acclaimed recognition; reaching #1 on both Roots Music Report's Blues Rock Chart and ReverbNation’s Global Blues Chart.
Born in Toronto, Canada to a Portuguese father and a French-Canadian mother, Gomes began playing guitar in his early teens and was instantly drawn to the blues sounds of B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. He relocated to Chicago in the late '90s to learn from the blues masters. During his brief stint as a sideman for Magic Slim and the Teardrops, Gomes put together his own group and won the first annual Buddy Guy's Legends "Best Unsigned Blues Band" competition in 1998. Later that year, he released his debut CD, "Blues in Technicolor," which introduced him as a guitar-slinger loaded with impressive firepower. He was elevated to the top of the blues field, and 12 releases and numerous awards and ecstatic accolades later, his aptly-named, riff-laden “Electric Field Holler” crackles with his bare wires passion.
