Kofi Baker *OLD*

Kofi Baker *OLD*

10-31-2015 - HALLOWEEN

The "Cream" were undeniably the first rock "supergroup" of the 1960s. And though they were together for less than 3 years, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton left a gigantic impression on the world of rock music forever.

Now Ginger Baker's son Kofi teams up with super guitarist Godfrey Townsend  and bassist Greg Smith to pay humble tribute to the world's greatest power trio.

As the son of legendary drumming icon Ginger Baker, Kofi Baker has a name that’s synonymous with drumming excellence. And Kofi lives up to his name. With his outstanding skills, drive & dedication, he continues the great Baker legacy. Kofi's first live performance was with his father on the UK television show "The Old Grey Whistle Test"...at just six years of age, he proved that he had inherited more than just his father’s name.
In the early 80's, Kofi and his father performed drum duets throughout Europe, amazing audiences with complex African polyrhythms. Later, Kofi toured with John Ethridge (Soft Machine), gigged in London with Steve Waller (Manfred Mann) and Randy California (Spirit). He also toured Europe with Steve Marriot (Humble Pie). During the 1990's Kofi toured with Jack Bruce in Budapest; Signed with Scotty Brothers label & recorded the album Lost City; Recorded "Abstract Logic" with Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane; and toured extensively...including more drum duets with dad, Ginger Baker.
After seeing his father play in the Cream reunion of 2005, Kofi was inspired to start his own band. He wanted to continue where Cream and his father left off. Kofi’s band is the ultimate Cream tribute...combining Cream's innovative and experimental style with virtuoso talent.

Guitarist Godfrey Townsend has worked with many of rock music’s most influential names. In the past decade alone, he has performed with John Entwistle (bass guitarist of The Who), Jack Bruce (bass guitarist/vocalist of Cream), Dave Mason (guitarist/vocalist of Traffic) and Alan Parsons (producer/engineer/recording artist). After hearing Godfrey jamming on some Cream tunes in a club one night, Eric Clapton's guitar tech, Lee Dickson commented to John Entwistle of The Who: "This guy's got Clapton down better than Clapton!" Townsend's mastery is so complete that Jack Bruce has been recruiting him and his band to back him up for the past eight years.

Bass player & powerhouse vocalist Greg Smith is the former bassist with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Alice Cooper. He currently plays with Tommy James & The Shondells and Ted Nugent

If you never saw Cream live, and you probably haven't, this is the closest you'll ever come to the real thing outside of the real thing itself. Continuing where Cream left off, Kofi Baker's Cream Experience is the ultimate Cream tribute, combining Cream's innovative and experimental style with amazing virtuoso talent.
