MAX CREEK
7-26-2014
Legendary. Contemporary. Ever evolving. This is Max Creek.
For over 40 years, Creek has been blowing minds with their unmistakable blend of Americana, country, rock, calypso and jazz. Over 200 songs in the current catalog guarantee different shows with different songs every night. Max Creek was the first “Jam Band” before such a term existed. Billy Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead and Mike Gordon of Phish are among Creek’s longtime fans. Creek has built an ever-expanding multi-generational fanbase concentrated in New England, but also spread nationwide through years of touring and hosting annual festivals such as Camp Creek and StrangeCreek. 2014 started with a bang with Max Creek playing the 4th annual Jungle Jam on Jaco Beach in Costa Rica. Max Creek are contemporary innovators of the improv scene, and the band that everyone you know knows someone who has seen them pushing the envelope of the live music experience.
The music is always joyous, and their stage is full of smiles and laughter, both during and between songs. All one has to do is glance into the crowd to see that the feeling is contagious. And Creek is most definitely a family. 40-odd years in, the audience is a multi-generational stew; it’s not uncommon to witness old-school Creek Freeks getting down with their teenage (or older!) kids. They just have that uncanny songwriting style with a nimble, melodic and focused approach to improvisation that has endeared them to thrill seeking listeners long before the word "jamband" crossed a human’s lips.
