Yoke Shire

3-17-2016 - St. Patrick's Day

This year St. Patrick’s Day lands on a Thursday which doesn't change a thing. It is still officially party time. And a rollicking good time is what you'll get from a Yoke Shire Celtic music performance. Over the years Yoke Shire’s Celtic music shows have put smiles on the faces of young and old alike. Hands start clapping, feet start tapping and sure enough, the next thing you know - you're having a good time!

Brothers Craig Herlihy and Brian Herlihy have combined their musical talents with their cultural heritage and created a fresh take on Irish music that will have you doing a jig. Band leader Craig is a talented multi-instrumentalist who performs on piano, mandolin, tin whistle, melodica, guitar and sings. Together with Brian’s guitar and drummer Brad Dillion’s bodhran playing, the trio delivers their trademark three part vocal harmonies.

On St. Patrick’s Day 2011, Yoke Shire released their latest CD, an album of traditional Irish music entitled “Awakening Celtic Spirits” that features 11 songs mastered at the renowned Gateway Studios by Grammy Award winning audio engineer Adam Ayan. The album has received praise from both fans and critics. The Boston Herald stated: “These Irish-American brothers can certainly play, enlivening “Irish Rover,” “Danny Boy” & “Finnegan’s Wake” with a whirlwind of tin whistle, bodhran & dulcimer.” Metronome Magazine touted “Awakening Celtic Spirits, is a masterfully performed and recorded assemblage of traditional Irish folk tunes.. with beautifully crafted arrangements, stunning vocals and masterful performances that will make fans and new comers of Celtic music fans of Yoke Shire for sure."
