Suzy Bogguss' Swingin' Little Christmas
12-11-2016
Grammy winning singer-songwriter Suzy Bogguss had a string of Top 10 singles in the 1990s, including "Outbound Plane," "Drive South," "Hey Cinderella," "Letting Go" and "Aces." You may also have heard her on Garrison Keillor's
"A Prairie Home Companion." This small-town girl from Illinois who made her way to Nashville, is one of country music’s enduring treasures.
In this fun holiday show, Bogguss and her band will perform songs from her two beloved Christmas albums: 2003’s "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," featuring the merrymaking, uptempo “Two-Step ’Round the Christmas Tree”; and 2010’s "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas." She'll also include selections from her recently released acoustic album of songs written by Merle Haggard, "Lucky" along with some of her own hits. It's a show that will make even the Grinch smile; a festive evening of traditional songs and spontaneity. The whole family will enjoy this Swingin’ Little Christmas Show!
The musicianship is jaw-dropping and Suzy’s rich voice is perfect for this warm & cozy Holiday show, which Suzy has been doing for almost 20 years now. It's her favorite time of year. And if you've seen her Christmas show in the past, "don't worry, it's always different." she says. "And it's not all Christmas music. I still do the hits I had on country radio in the '90s, and I do a little bit of folk music interspersed in there as well. For the most part, it's your traditional favorites with some that are different. For instance, I do a song called 'Mr. Santa' that's an alternate lyric for the classic song 'Mr. Sandman.' And I do 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' and 'Rudolph'… it's a pretty family-oriented show. There are a couple of things that are sentimental. We do 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and I go out in the audience and have them sing
'White Christmas' with me. A lot of classic things, old style, makes you feel like Bing Crosby or something...
