Butch Trucks and the Freight Train Band

Butch Trucks and the Freight Train Band
8-7-2016

Legendary drummer and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, Butch Trucks and the Freight Train Band play all your favorite Allman Brothers jams with that familiar Butch backbeat. Joining him on bass is none other than Berry Duane Oakley Jr., son of late Allman Brothers bass player, Berry Oakley. Also in the band is Vaylor Trucks, Bruce Katz, Damon Fowler, Heather Gillis and Tad Isch.
Butch and "Jaimoe" Johanson pioneered the famous Allman Brothers' two drummer sound which was the solid rock rhythmic drive that became the foundation for all of the Allman Brothers material. Dickey Betts once said of Trucks' role in the band, "...When Butch came along, he had that freight train, meat-and-potatoes kind of thing that set Jaimoe up perfectly. He had the power thing that we needed."

Butch continues to be a leading component in the Roots Rock Revival summer music camp. Roots Rock Revival is a four night, five day all-inclusive intensive that features master classes, jam sessions, Q&A sessions, open rehearsals and more. Its an intimate look at the Southern Blues Rock movement, the Allman Brothers Band and the music that forms the foundation of Rock ‘n Roll. Some of the young attendees are often invited to perform with Butch at local gigs.

Whether you're an avid ABB fan or just love yourself some southern rock, don't miss this chance to get up close with a living legend. Forty years later and Oakley and Trucks are back where it all began.
