Chris Duarte* 9-10-2010TICKETS Chris Duarte has established himself as one of the most formidable fret-board scorchers on the contemporary blues-rock scene. Since emerging in the mid-1990s from Austin, Texas, a blues guitar hotbed, Duarte has forged new pathways for the blues and scouted numerous fresh trails for creative musical expression. Lauded for the exquisite artistry and vivid tonality of his six-string work, over the last decade Duarte has also proven his considerable mettle as a songwriter, singer and bandleader. Blues Access called him a "genius," but Duarte sees his work in a much more basic and fluid context. "I'm a musician who is still out there searching for better ways to get from point A to point B, and better my craft. I'm just not content staying in one place." In 1979, at the age of 16, he moved on his own to Austin "and bought a '63 Stratocaster for $500. He soon earned a virtual Ph.D in blues music. Playing with Texas favorites like Bobby Mack & Night Train and Junior Medlow & The Bad Boys, he quickly earned a rep as a hot new gun in a town with an army of guitar talents. At the same time he dug into the work of such Austin guitar legends as Jimmie Vaughan, Denny Freeman and Derek O'Brien, paying special note to the rhythmic foundation that's a hallmark of the Lone Star blues style. At the core of their sound is guitarist/vocalist Ryan Kelly, whose talent and feel go way beyond his years. Other bandmembers are Alan Doyle on harp, Dennis Kelly on bass, Mark Malsyz on drums and John Gaudette on keys.
Andy Pratt (Ballroom) 9-11-2010TICKETS Boston Music Legend Andy Pratt burst onto the scene in 1973 with his unique hit "Avenging Annie". In 1973 he was signed to Columbia Records and from '73 to '77 he toured the country with widespread airplay and sold-out shows. He recorded and toured with some of tthe best musicians in pop. Rolling Stone said "By reviving the dream of rock as an art and then re-inventing it, Pratt has forever changed the face of rock". Andy never stopped writing, performing, and recording... As of this date he has recorded 25 albums, most of which are available HERE. In 2006, Pratt published his personal memoirs, "Shiver in the Night"
Don White (Sawtelle Room) 9-11-2010TICKETS If you laugh and cry within the same ten minutes, you either need a vacation or you are sitting in the audience at a Don White show. This working class family man from Lynn, Massachusetts has emerged as the thoughtful songwriter of the decade whose relevance to our lives is evidenced by the powerful reaction he evokes at every concert. BLUE OYSTER CULT 10-07-2010TICKETS THEY STILL RULE ROCK RADIO AND CONCERT STAGES EVERYWHERE! Upon the release of Blue �yster Cult's self-titled debut album in 1972, the band was praised for its catchy-yet-heavy music and lyrics that could be provocative, terrifying, funny or ambiguous, often all in the same song.
